Holiday Inn Gaithersburg by IHG

For the price, it’s a good value, with a microwave, fridge, and self-service laundry. The heater was strong in the cold weather, and the shower had great pressure and all the dove amenities. The front desk and restaurant staff were warm and welcoming. The hotel shows its age, though the rooms are kept up well. Hopefully they renovate someday and make it even better.

The staff were absolutely lovely, and I appreciated that. Still, the building felt rough and was the most outdated Holiday Inn we’ve stayed in. The rooms and bathrooms were dated and kind of gross, with stained or dirty bathroom tile and dim, flickering bulbs. The old elevators made noise too. Breakfast wasn’t complimentary, which was a first for us at a Holiday Inn, and the food wasn’t worth paying for. We’ll stay somewhere else next time we’re in the area.

We only managed about four hours of sleep before heading back to work, so I didn’t get to take pictures or enjoy the view from our room on the top floor. We were on the 700 room floor, I think, and the view might have been good. The room and bathroom were on the small side. We arrived at midnight, exhausted from driving, and check-in was quick and pleasant. There’s free coffee, but no free breakfast. The location is okay if you like the city. I called the front desk operator to ask about contact solutions, but unfortunately they don’t carry that at their good sales are haa.

UPDATE: They found my necklace! These people are miracle workers, thank you so much! The pool was lovely, and the staff were so kind. I misplaced a necklace during my stay, and at first we couldn’t find it. The front desk and cleaning staff both put in effort to help, which really eased the stress of losing something dear to us. I’ll recommend this place.
