Motel 6 Gaithersburg, DC - Washington

My daughter waits for her bus in the lobby because it’s cold outside, and she keeps to herself there. She’s quiet and an honor roll student. Some staff even say hello, but the short, round Spanish man in the office often locks the door when he sees her sitting inside, even when it’s cold or raining. The other day, she asked him to get her water bottle and belongings, which he had locked up, and he got an attitude and called her rude for being in the lobby. I’ve stayed here several times and it’s never been a good experience. Three remotes didn’t work, so I gave up and streamed from my laptop, but the Wi-Fi barely helped.

I liked the room, but it was missing things it should have had, like a microwave and coffee maker. And with freezing weather outside, the heat still wasn’t warm enough. It was so cold in there 🥶🥶🥶🥶🥶🥶🥶🥶🥶🥶🥶🥶🥶🥶

The receptionist was a sweetheart, but that’s about the only good thing I can say. The rooms were dirty, and when we first opened ours, the beds hadn’t been made. They don’t provide sheets, so bring your own. There are mice, maintenance wasn’t any better than Janice, and she was disrespectful when we tried to raise concerns, talking over us and denying everything. I wouldn’t bring family here, and it doesn’t feel kid friendly. The location is great, though. After I posted, the team replied asking me to contact them but gave no number. Calling the Motel 6 number listed on Google just gets me Janice again, the same nasty lady.

Bugs were in several rooms I went into, even after they’d been cleaned, and it didn’t feel fun or safe. There are rats that may wake you up, or the long term tenants might. If watching entire seasons of Cops sounds appealing, this is the place.
