Seabreeze Hotel, An Ascend Collection Hotel

Daryl was patient and really listened when I needed help with a reservation mix-up. I had accidentally booked the wrong date through a third-party site, so the reservation showed the wrong day when I arrived, and the booking company wasn't much help. Daryl worked through it with me and made sure we were looked after. He seemed genuinely concerned about our comfort and safety. He represents the Seabreeze Hotel, an Ascend Collection Hotel, very well: professional, kind, and helpful. Staff like him are a big reason people return.

We enjoyed our stay. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the hotel was clean and well maintained. I liked having extra chairs to sit in, and the bed was comfortable. The gym could be bigger, though I preferred running on the beach anyway. It was only a couple of blocks away, so the location worked really well for that.

The breakfast was the one part that let me down. It was advertised as a hot breakfast like you'd expect at La Quinta or Hilton Garden Inn, but what was offered varied a lot. One morning there were only eggs, and another there weren't any eggs at all, just waffles, cereal, and apples. With two small kids and a busy schedule, I booked partly because of breakfast, so those details matter. Still, it wasn't a dealbreaker, and I'd recommend the place and stay again. The hotel and rooms were really clean, and housekeeping deserves a shout-out. Staff were good with me, not rude or dismissive. The price and location make it a good deal, especially compared with some rougher motels on Seawall Blvd that charge about the same. It's a block from the seawall, good for a walk or jog, and some balconies, including mine, face the shoreline. Pleasure Pier is within walking distance, and there's a liquor store right next door. About the water pressure: mine was fine. If you want a jet stream strong enough to blast your skin or massage your back, this probably isn't the place.

This place feels like it cuts corners on basic room setup. The towels have to sit on the sink because there are no shelves, and the hair dryer takes up the sink too, leaving nowhere for your things. Maybe I'd have to put the towels on the floor to make space. The automatic blinds are confusing and installed with cords everywhere, which seems like a bad setup around kids. The accessible shower is especially impractical. The shower seat is stored under the sink, and at around 50 pounds, dragging it over there when you're handicapped is ridiculous.
