Embassy Suites by Hilton Anaheim South

We spent a full week here over Christmas, and it was surprisingly affordable for California. Even with the holiday crowds and lots of people heading to Disney, the surrounding area had plenty to do and never felt overwhelming. The stay was fun, comfortable, and memorable. As a longtime Hilton fan, I was especially impressed. The room was cozy, and everything stayed clean and well maintained all week. Housekeeping was exceptional, and the staff were pleasant and welcoming. Breakfast was amazing, too. The only downside was the window design: with the drapes open, there’s very little privacy. That felt more like a design issue than the hotel’s fault. I’d give the stay a strong 5 out of 5. I’ve recommended it to several people, some have already booked future trips, and I plan to return soon.

The view from our room was beautiful, and its location was nice. The room could’ve been cleaner and better maintained: the shower curtain was torn in several places, and it was hard to turn off the shower without it dripping. We weren’t told until a couple of days before arrival that the kitchen was being remodeled. Breakfast was still available, but without someone making it for you, it wasn’t the same experience. The front desk staff when we arrived didn’t seem welcoming or like they cared we were there.

The separate room with a closing door was a big plus for traveling with our son. It’s an all-suites hotel, and getting that space for the same or less than a basic room elsewhere worked well for us. The hotel itself was nice and much like other Embassy Suites we’ve visited. We stayed one night as a base for the Disney parks, about 10 minutes away. We came the night before, hoping to arrive when the park opened. Driving seemed convenient, but getting into the parking lot and onto the tram took much longer than we wanted. In retrospect, we should’ve used the hotel shuttle to save time and parking money. Breakfast opened early enough for us to get what we needed before leaving, and the coffee was good. For families, this is a good option near the Disney Resort. Consider taking the local ART shuttle to the entrance plaza instead of dealing with the extra parking time.

Friendly, helpful staff and a super clean room made for a good stay, and the included breakfast was genuinely good and made mornings easier. It’s an easy walk to the convention center, and probably to Disney too since it’s across the street from the center, around 20 minutes. There are lots of great restaurants nearby. I’d stay again. A couple of things were frustrating. The AC is really loud, day and night, though I used earplugs and managed. Happy hour is advertised as free drinks from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. When we went, we had to stand in a strange separate line, and Bud Light was the only free option. It is a perk, but the description feels misleading.
