Antler Lodge - Gardiner MT

The room was fine, but our king suite didn’t have the creek view that was advertised, and the stay was disappointing. We chose this place partly for the Antler bar and breakfast. The bar was packed because, as I later found out, the staff were having a party. That may have been fine for them, but it wasn’t great for guests. We went across the street to Rust Rail instead and had a great time. In the morning, the breakfast bar, which was supposed to be open, was completely empty. The friendly man who checked us in was really the only good part. I wouldn’t recommend this place.

WiFi was the worst part of our stay. It was completely unusable. The front desk said poor internet is a general problem in Gardiner, though we’d had better WiFi elsewhere in town. The lodge is in Gardiner, a handy spot for entering Yellowstone NP from the north-west, and the welcome was friendly and polite. The rooms are solid, but the place seems to have seen better days. There was no breakfast. I found that odd because across from the front desk is an area that looks like it’s for food, with the usual clear bread and bagel boxes sitting there. Housekeeping only comes after the fourth night, so otherwise you have to ask for things yourself.

The location near Yellowstone’s entrance is definitely convenient, and after a long day I was relieved to have a safe place to sleep. The beds were decent, but the rooms weren’t what I’d hoped for at that price. It felt like I was paying more than the quality warranted. The shower also made an unpleasant noise, and I felt bad using it so early, though I had to leave early. I ended up here late in the day because nothing else was available. At least we were greeted and helped promptly when we arrived at 10 PM.

Cora found me a room at the last minute after I ran into trouble at another Yellowstone motel I’d booked. She had great customer service and got me settled quickly in one of their rooms with a spectacular view. Cora, you saved my weekend. Thanks for going above and beyond. The room was clean and had a mini fridge and good beds.
