The staff were great, and the room was fine for a night, even though the shower pressure was a bit low. What makes the spot cute is all the food places in walking distance, the maritime museum right across the road, and the coffee shop next door. There are coffee pods in the lobby, too. Overall, an okay place to sleep.
We couldn’t sleep, which is the whole reason to stay at a hotel. Someone upstairs screamed and yelled until 3:30 a.m., with doors slamming too, and nobody stepped in. We’d called ahead and were quoted $59 a night, but once we arrived they charged $78. We paid after an eight-hour drive. The sheets were stained and the shower looked like it belonged in a prison. There was also a lot of noise from truckers and construction, especially for the off-season price. When I asked the front desk for half my money back, they refused. Keep driving.
We’ve stopped here twice now, once heading north on Coastal Highway 101 from Oregon to Washington and again on the way back. We felt safe leaving our vehicles full of Costco and groceries, and could back right up to our room. For a holiday weekend, just over $100 including our dog wasn’t bad. They charge $15 for a dog, which seems like a small fee when so many hotels now want $20-30 per night. The country’s greed is getting out of hand. We’ll stay here again when we’re in the area.
The room was clean and spacious, and the TV was the biggest I’ve ever seen in a motel. The staff were incredibly nice. I’d absolutely come back.
We were disgusted by the bed bug and ended up sleeping on top of the bedding in the second room, just in case. That room was even less clean than the first, though we didn’t see more bugs there. Earlier, the first room had hair on the floor and spider webs, and around 11:30 p.m. we spotted a bug on the bed and identified it as a bed bug. We called management right away, and a woman quickly moved us to another room. The next morning I asked the man at the desk whether he’d consider a discount or refund for the late night room change and the bed bug. He was disrespectful and, in front of other customers, said he thought we were lying to get a refund. He claimed he was the manager but wouldn’t give his name so we could dispute the charge with the bank, and he offered no compensation. Housekeeping were much kinder and more respectful about our discomfort. They assured us they’d address it and gave us the manager’s name, PANDEEP, so we could follow up. Don’t stay here.
