Hotel Key LaGuardia Airport

The staff were good, and the Flushing location was convenient, with a subway line that goes straight to Manhattan. But my room wasn’t good: the refrigerator and hairdryer didn’t work, and even after I told them, nothing was fixed. Nobody came to clean the room during my three-night New Year’s stay, either. The service wasn’t good.

The room was quite small, and getting in with heavy luggage is awkward because there are stairs at the entrance. The elevators are old and slow too. Still, the price was moderate and the room had useful things like a queen bed, fridge, and microwave. It’s an okay place for a quick airport layover, as long as you keep expectations in check.

The front desk service was awful. The woman there was extremely rude and basically yelled at us because the keycard wouldn’t work. It was an old IHG card with the room number written in Sharpie, and it failed about half the time. I stayed two days and got locked out automatically after the first. The room was tiny, about half my bedroom at home, with no space to open my suitcase without blocking the door. All it had was a mini fridge and a little table by the bed. The phone was just decoration, it didn’t work. The bathroom smelled like mildew, and there were stains everywhere, including a dead fly stuck on the wall. The elevator smelled of smoke. The only real amenity I found was the lobby coffee maker. Do not stay here, it’s barely a motel and not worth any money.

The place was clean, and the staff were professional and helpful. There are restaurants all around, and it’s about a ten-minute walk to the N.Y subway. The room had a queen bed, small fridge, and microwave, all useful for my short stay. I came from Canada and chose the Key Fluxing Hotel because it’s near the airports and moderately priced. Breakfast isn’t included, but complimentary coffee is available any time of day. Thank you very much.
