Best Western Plus Edison Inn

We found five cockroaches within three hours, took photos, and even kept the dead ones we had killed as proof. The hotel didn't seem to care and refused to refund us, even though we left instead of staying for the three days we had booked because of the infestation.

They wouldn't clean our room, saying they thought they smelled smoke, but they still let us book and pay for another night. If they really believed that, why let us stay again? And if they wouldn't let us stay another night, they should've cleaned the room. The staff were unfriendly, and this was my worst hotel experience. They were the worst.

The staff were wonderful, but we left a night early and ate the cost because we couldn't face staying longer. We were in town for a convention, and the rate was higher than it should've been. Since it was a Best Western Plus, I expected better. The room had a king bed that was far from soft or comfortable, and weed smell from a neighbor came through the big gap under the door and woke me up. You could hear conversations in passing rooms because the walls were so thin. The bathroom paneling or wallpaper was peeling near the doorway and toilet paper holder, with black mold behind it. There didn't seem to be AC in the hallways or elsewhere unless you set your room to cold, and the elevator smelled strange. I'd rather have driven 4 1/2 hours home than spend a second night. I wish we'd booked somewhere else, even at a higher price. I wouldn't stay here again.

I booked a Deluxe room for our July trip through Hotels.com back in March at a great price. At check-in, the woman at the desk said we'd need to pay another $80 to get the room, but couldn't explain where the fee came from or what had happened. I don't know whether the problem was with Hotels.Com or BestWestern, but being told we had to pay more to stay was unacceptable. Luckily, home was only 2 hrs from Raleigh, so we could leave.
