Holiday Inn Express Gas City by IHG

I've stayed here three times, and the location keeps bringing me back, but the hotel is terrible and doesn't deserve the Holiday Inn Express name. The rooms are okay, but service is absent. After the first night, the towels from my morning shower were still there, the tissue box was empty, and nobody had touched the wastebaskets. The elevator ride to the third floor feels like a theme park attraction. It honestly has you praying you'll make it. And don't bother calling the front desk, they won't answer, no matter how long it rings.

We spent one night here with our dog and would stay again. The bed was comfy, the room was spacious, and the pet fee was reasonable. Everyone was friendly, from the front desk staff and manager to Candace, who served breakfast.

The hotel was very clean, with good rooms and friendly, very good service. They kindly placed me on the other side so I wouldn't hear road noise. If you stay on what I think is the eastern side, though, you'll hear some interstate traffic. I didn't have breakfast because I get up very early and head out, so I can't comment on it. There is a Starbucks right across the parking lot, and gas and diesel are close by. A good place to stay.

The juice at breakfast was basically water, and the pancake batter seemed watered down, with pancakes only about a quarter the size of those at other Holiday Inn locations. Checking out two days before my reservation ended turned into a hassle too. The receptionist billed the whole stay and gave me a receipt for that amount. When I asked to remove the extra two days, they acted like it was a huge ordeal and blamed me for not notifying them ahead of time. I've checked out early at every other Holiday Inn without any problem.
