The Lodge at Geneva

We had a lovely ceremony here, with great food, and Veronica helped us plan every detail. It was a wonderful spot for our wedding and built-in family reunion. The rooms, pools, outdoor activities, and setting were all great. We had a blast zip lining and sitting around the fire pits.

I planned my cousin’s bachelorette weekend here as her matron of honor, and we all had the best time. There was plenty for everyone to do. Between the strip, pool and hot tub, wine tour, and all the great food nearby, we were completely satisfied with the weekend.

The lake views from the back are lovely, and the staff were pleasant throughout our stay. The room was roomy and comfortable. The Lodge at Geneva-on-the Lake is well kept inside and out, with plenty of space for gatherings indoors and outside. The outdoor pool area has lots of seating, games, a pool, and a hot tub. The open lobby has amenities around it, including an indoor pool, gift shop, and restaurant/bar.

We stayed for two days in February, when snow covered everything and made the lodge look like a winter wonderland. It’s right on Lake Erie. Our room was clean, and the staff were very friendly. We ate at the restaurant three times and liked every meal. I enjoyed the breakfasts, especially the lodge’s “pinched potatoes,” small boiled potatoes that are fried, seasoned, and lightly smashed. The filet we had one night was cooked perfectly. The wine shuttle visits three local wineries; Tom, our driver, was friendly and knew the area. They also have snowshoes and cross-country skis for anyone feeling adventurous. There were some drawbacks: a burst water pipe meant a lift and construction supplies blocked part of the main lobby, and the gift shop was closed both days. The path to the outdoor hot tub hadn’t been cleared and was slippery. Geneva On the Lake is nearby, but everything shuts down in winter. There are plenty of wineries around, and lots of covered bridges to see if that’s your thing.
