Hampton Inn Geneva

I found this place late at night after driving too long and needing a rest. Mike and his team made me feel welcome, and everything was convenient. There was parking, and the small town amenities and Finger Lakes welcome center were close by. It was a perfect midpoint on my drive from Cambridge Ma to Port Huron Mi. This was my first stay at Hampton Inn Geneva NY, but it won’t be my last. I’ve already told several friends about this wonderful surprise. Thank you 🙏

When we arrived at 11pm, the hotel was completely dark and we eventually had to wake the desk attendant. The town itself was very quiet just after New Year's (last week), with students still away and wine tasting off-season. In the morning, the bathtub water was jet brown. The front desk agent offered each of us a bottle of water and said she was being gracious despite our not having elite Diamond Club status. She couldn’t offer any further discount because only the manager could do that, and the manager wasn’t on-site. They haven’t returned my call or email in the past week. Breakfast seemed to have been put together with the same care as the plumbing. Did they dilute the waffle mix with that same brown stuff? Photo below.

After a long plane ride, all I wanted was the hot tub. That’s why I booked this hotel, along with breakfast, for $500 for three nights. Nothing on my booking mentioned that the hot tub or pool needed an order, and they were broken. I stayed instead of cancelling, but I haven’t decided whether I’d come back. Hopefully the next two days will change my mind. It’s a nice, convenient hotel, but it has some issues. The bathrooms could be cleaner, the sink could use paint to look more professional, and the shower needs caulking along the bottom. My bath towels were placed in front of an outlet, which didn’t seem safe, so I moved them away from the fire hazard. The previous comments made me wonder if bathroom cleanliness had been considered. It isn’t cheap, and they need to work on a few things. So far it’s been pretty good apart from the broken pool and hot tub, and the website didn’t say they were out of order.

The bed and pillows were too soft for our taste. They should have firmer pillows as an alternative. Otherwise, the rooms were spacious, the bathroom was clean, and check-in was quick. There’s free outdoor parking, and the lake and nearby downtown are an easy walk in this quaint, relaxed town. We never felt unsafe, even late at night. Reception and housekeeping were cordial and seemed ready to make the stay comfortable. Tip: rooms 312, 314, 316, and 318 have good lake views.
