Quality Inn & Suites Georgetown - Seaford

The room they gave us was dirty, so we had to move. The second one had no working appliances, and the shower took ages to get hot. In the morning, breakfast seemed like leftovers from earlier in the week, and our keys had stopped working three hours before checkout. When I told the owner and manager about the experience, they first blamed us for using the wrong staircase. We explained the elevator was broken, the stairs were dirty and blocked with caution tape, and the signs made it confusing to reach the second floor. They had no answer. They blamed daylight savings for the keys shutting off early. We’d arrived very late just needing a night’s sleep. The receptionist warned that construction might make the room hard to reach and gave us three different routes. We followed the signs, found the broken elevator and unusable stairs, then walked around the building to another staircase. At the top was a Walmart cart carrying construction materials, partly blocking a floor that had been visibly torn up, with holes in the walls and ceiling and wires everywhere. Construction wasn’t properly blocked off, and there was trash and debris on the floor, though only four rooms were being rented out upstairs. We wondered why they didn’t close the whole floor. The owner and manager said they wanted to make it right with a 50% discount, if we met them halfway and gave them a good Google review. I did that and waited a few weeks, but no refund came. When I called, the manager denied promising one, said I was wrong for walking in a restricted area, and told me not to come back if the stay was so bad.

They’re renovating, and check-in was already strange: someone was in the first room they gave me, something that’s never happened to me before. I let it go and got another room, where the toilet was clogged, though they fixed it. Then the toilet nearly tipped over when my son sat on it. There was knocking and doors opening and closing near the office from 11 PM to 1:30 AM, and I couldn’t sleep because I had no idea what was happening. The TV channels were messed up, so I couldn’t find anything I wanted to watch. The staff were very good and helpful, but I won’t stay again.

The room was spacious and clean, and the location was great. Front desk staff were polite and helpful. It’s an easy walk next door for dinner or an early coffee. I’ll definitely stay again.

I stopped for the night because it was getting late and I needed rest. The room had a strange smell, kind of like a ferret, but that wasn’t a huge deal. I woke several times with lots of bug bites. I didn’t see bugs, so I thought they might be bed bugs. Around 6 AM, unable to sleep, I went to shower and check out early, and found black mold in the bathroom. The location was fine and staff were courteous, but after this one night I wish I’d stayed at the Hilton next door. Update: I spoke with the manager by phone, got my money refunded, and was told the room would be taken out of service. Urgent care confirmed the bites appeared to be bed bug bites.
