Hampton Inn & Suites Memphis Germantown

The location was the best thing about this hotel. We paid a lot for what we got, and I could have saved over $100 at another hotel with similar accommodations. Friends recommended it for our travel sports trip, and we booked online asking for two beds, but they were overbooked and only had king rooms left. The room size was okay but a little worn. The couch had several stains, the toilet was broken, and the shower only got warm. I raised the issues twice. When we came back, the beds hadn’t been made and the room hadn’t been touched. Breakfast was below par: fake scrambled eggs, some fruit, but no bananas or yogurt. The man in the dining area wasn’t friendly.

We paid over $300 a night for a room with a strange odor and a thick layer of yellow scum on the shower floor and side. When we finally got the room, an hour after check-in time, nobody was at the front desk, so thank goodness for digital keys. We’d first tried to check in about an hour early, knowing they might say no, but the employee reacted as though we’d asked something outrageous. She was rude instead of simply telling us no. As others have said, this location isn’t up to normal standards.

We spent five days there for a multigenerational family trip, and I’d absolutely stay again on my next visit. The staff were top tier, and the safe, beautiful, clean area has plenty of shops and restaurants within walking distance. Memphis attractions are reachable by car. A few things could be better: the rooms are dim and the windows are on the small side. The gym is extremely small, though I managed to stick to my program when it wasn’t crowded. It’s pet friendly, and some guests brought dogs to breakfast while others were eating. All in all, a wonderful stay.

I’ve stayed here twice now, and the comfortable rooms and friendly staff keep it a good option. Breakfast is decent, though I wish there were more choices; what they have is fine. The Germantown location is handy, with lots of good restaurants and things to do. There are also plenty of great golf courses around Memphis. I’d highly recommend staying here when visiting Memphis.
