Spark by Hilton Germantown Washington DC North

We had made a booking mistake, entirely our fault, and the man at the front desk kindly fixed it without charging us. He was so friendly, and the rest of the staff were just as kind. I really appreciate how he helped us. Our rooms and beds were quite comfortable, and breakfast was adequate. There was tea in the lobby for our nightly cup, too.

The room was clean and nicely renovated, and the breakfast area was well stocked. The attendant there was courteous. The bagel bar wasn’t exciting, but it was exactly what they said it would be. In the morning, though, there was nobody at the front desk when I stopped by for help. My check-in around 1:00 a.m. was dismal. The front door was locked, and when I rang the bell the clerk waved and yelled, “Use your key.” Once he opened up, I explained I hadn’t been given a key yet and needed to check in. He didn’t acknowledge my Hilton Honors status or offer water. For a clean, comfortable, convenient overnight stop on a road trip, the room met expectations, but the guest service was disappointing. I’d hoped for the “Sparktacular” hospitality I’d read about, and didn’t experience it.

There isn’t a lot to do right nearby, though some fun attractions aren’t too far away. I’m planning another visit to get out of the city, and the staff have me looking forward to coming back. I can be a guest with random requests, but the team at Spark Hilton handled all my ridiculousness so well. Crystal and Alaina especially deserve a mention for being helpful, kind, and knowledgeable. Everyone was incredibly friendly and accommodating, and the hotel was very clean.

I love the people here, from the front desk and housekeeping to maintenance and the ladies in the breakfast room. They’re all so lovely, helpful, friendly, and respectful, and they’re always willing to help with whatever they can.
