Super 8 by Wyndham Giddings

I was unsure after reading some reviews, but staying here changed my mind. The rooms are nicely remodeled, there's plenty of parking, and service was top-notch. The owners have gone above and beyond.

Kevin at the front desk made sure I had everything I needed and prepared breakfast for me each morning of my stay. He was friendly and enjoyed chatting. He deserves recognition for the job he did.

The room did have a small fridge and freezer, which was the one nice thing. Otherwise, it badly needs remodeling: chipped paint, black mold in the tile, a broken toilet seat, and shower water that wouldn't get hot. I was told breakfast ran from 6-9am, but when I got to the lobby at 6:30, nothing was ready. The Indian owner was just starting to put out cereal, so I went to Bucees for breakfast.

Bad weather is why I stayed here. At 9pm I had to switch rooms because there was no hot water, then walked up front for the new key and slipped on the ice. Cold air came in all night through the damaged door in the new room. The toilet lid was cracked, plug covers were broken or missing, and the mattress had a visible dip. It's fine if you just need somewhere cheap, but definitely not a place for luxury.
