Garner Hotel Gillette South by IHG

I was traveling alone with my son and felt very safe here. We got the best rest in the most comfortable beds. The overnight front desk woman gave me one of the kindest interactions I’ve ever had at a hotel. I rarely write reviews, but she deserves kudos. Five stars!

Compared with our last visit, this place has slipped a bit. It didn’t feel very clean, and some maintenance issues concerned us. The door had a hole where the peephole should have been, with toilet paper shoved into it, so we covered it with tape. There was a paint roller in the bathroom and no “do not disturb” sign in the room. Breakfast disappointed too, with no waffle maker. For this kind of presentation, the room prices felt a little high.

The rooms are nice and the staff are nice, but this is a loud hotel. Kids and teenagers of different ages stay up all night, run through the halls, and make a lot of noise when you’re trying to sleep. Staff don’t enforce the rules about keeping noise down. If you want somewhere quieter, don’t stay here. If the noise and kids running around don’t bother you, go for it.

We stayed one night while driving through with three kids, and it was great value for the money. The rooms were clean, and the front desk staff were helpful, friendly, and attentive. The pool area was a little dated, but the kids didn’t care and we all had a blast. The freshly ground and brewed coffee was the best free hotel coffee I’ve ever had.
