Motel 6 Gilman

There were blood spots on two pillows, stains on the sheets, and I found a bug in the bed. We weren't even there for an hour, but the guy still refused to give us a refund.

We booked rooms ahead of time, but the hotel had already sold them by 5 pm. They showed no remorse and wouldn't help cancel the reservation, telling me to call the 1800 number or use the app. I spent an hour with customer service trying to cancel and get the money back. They said someone would call in five days.

The front desk lady was super nice and accommodating, and the bed linens seemed clean. But the train ran all night, and some thumping and banging made the whole building shake. The room felt creepy, the heater barely worked, and I froze all night. It all needs remodeling. The mattress was cheap and probably the worst I've slept on, and the curtains were falling off their hooks. The floors were filthy and needed mopping, and the bath towels were stained, worn, and disgusting. I stay in motels around 200 nights a year. To be fair, there aren't many options in this small town, and for $65 a night they may be doing the best they can. Of the three choices nearby, this seemed the best.

The beds were comfortable, and the room had a table, chair, and nice TV. There wasn't much furniture, but we don't really use dressers anyway. The owner said they were remodeling, and the rooms looked good. He was helpful and even walked us to our room. Everyone was very friendly. The pillows were almost too soft, which I didn't know was possible, but it didn't change how we felt about the stay. We came to visit family and will stay here again when we do.
