Budget Inn Gladstone By OYO - Portland/Clackamas

After many calls with OYO, the Budget Inn, and my card company, OYO denied the refund, claiming we stayed for the whole reservation. My card company recognized what had happened and refunded me. I won’t stay at an OYO hotel again. We had booked two nights through OYO, but left less than 20 minutes after entering the room. The lobby smelled of stale cigarettes, and the room was even smokier than the hallway, despite being marked non-smoking. There were no drawers, the flooring was patched with what looked like duct tape, and the toilet nearly tipped because it wasn’t secured to the floor. My husband also noticed a leaking shower with broken parts. Staff said someone would fix it, but the manager removed the toilet and left us there. When we said we were leaving, the staff seemed confused, then argued when we pointed out the room didn’t match the online pictures. They eventually agreed to a full refund, but told us to call OYO to cancel. OYO promised a quick refund when I called that day, but two weeks later it still hadn’t appeared, so I disputed the charge. I wish we’d left as soon as we saw the lobby. I posted photos of the room on Yelp.

We arrived a couple of hours before the 3 p.m. check-in, and the woman at the front desk kindly let us into a room early. We’d only booked one night, but it was a really good experience.

Terrible service overall. People in other rooms kept yelling, and although the place says it allows pets, they wouldn’t let you bring one. It also claims to be non-smoking, yet a naked man was allowed to smoke outside his room door. Worst place I’ve stayed.

The room was filthy, with bathroom door holes and black mold in the cabinets. When I raised the mold, Dayna at the front desk told me to keep the door shut because they’d sprayed it already. I had to ask her for a mop because the floors looked as though they hadn’t been cleaned in months. I’d booked online and paid for a month because we’d be working nearby, then they charged another $840 for my pet. Dayna was rude and unhelpful, and when I asked for the General Manager’s number, she slammed the door in my face. She also called my boyfriend and me awful names, and the general manager did nothing about it. This place needs to be shut down.
