My vehicle broke down, so I ended up staying here out of necessity. I honestly didn’t expect this experience. It’s an older building that’s been updated some, and not everything is brand new, but it was the cleanest Days Inn I’ve ever seen. I’d rather have an affordable, clearly clean room than all the bells and whistles. I had to add another night, and the maid didn’t know, so she was changing the sheets and pillowcases after what may have been just one use. That says a lot about their service. The grounds were clean and well kept, without trash or cigarette butts. I also saw them enforce the no-smoking rule in rooms, which helps keep the building and rooms in good shape. If other Days Inn locations followed what these owners are doing, it could really change how people see the brand. Kudos to you. I’m heading home now.

The pool was the main reason we booked for one night, but the indoor area had a strong mold smell, mold across the space, and what looked like possible black mold on the ceiling. Something rusty-colored was dripping from the ceiling all the way into the pool. We showed the man at the desk, and he called it “oil.” When I asked about ventilation, he pointed to a ceiling fan and said it was broken. He didn’t seem concerned when I showed him the areas I’d photographed and recorded. A few minutes after leaving while my mother-in-law and I discussed what to do, he returned with the woman from the desk and told us to leave the pool area. They put up an out-of-order sign. Given how extensive the mold was, this didn’t look like a recent problem, and they seemed to treat the ventilation issue as unimportant. The customer service and lack of maintenance make this hard to recommend. We came with my kids, nieces, and nephews. While my mother-in-law was checking in, someone was dropping off my niece after a birthday outing, and that woman’s kids needed the bathroom. The desk lady was rude and said there could only be six kids. My mother-in-law explained that only five children were staying and the others weren’t. We’d already checked in and brought our things to the rooms by the time we went to the pool.

We ended up here because we couldn’t find a Marriot nearby. The woman was so friendly and kind, and talked with us as if she’d known us for ages. We’d definitely come back on another visit. Maybe next time we’ll try the pool, which looked clean and cozy.

I’ve never had to work on hotel room equipment as a guest before. The toilet clogged the first time we flushed it. We told the desk on our way out to see family, and the woman offered us a plunger to handle it ourselves. We said we couldn’t since we were leaving. When we got back a little after 11 pm, the front door was dead bolted, though a side door opened with our key. Someone had plunged the toilet, which was appreciated, but it clogged again after two flushes. Nobody was on duty at night, so we left it until morning. The room was booked for two, but had supplies for one person only, just one glass and one washcloth, for example. In the morning we reported the toilet again and were once more offered a plunger. We asked to move rooms since we had another night booked. The desk person pushed back, saying a room would need to be cleaned. We said we could wait until regular check-in time, but she still resisted. We assumed someone would eventually deal with the toilet. About an hour later she offered the room across the hall, and we moved gratefully. That night we called down to ask when the lobby locked because we were having food delivered, but the room phone was broken, as were at least two light fixtures. The toilet never clogged in the new room, but that one also had supplies for only one person.

The staff are friendly and pretty funny. The location feels good and safe, so I wasn’t concerned walking to or from my vehicle. The rooms may not impress everyone, but they were clean, and the beds were clean and comfortable.
