Glen Rose Inn and Suites

My friend’s room had a bathroom full of shit and a toilet that wouldn’t flush. That’s completely unacceptable. The TV in my room worked for the first three minutes, then wouldn’t turn on again. I stayed two nights, and it was horrible. I’ll never stay here again.

The beds were clean and the appliances worked, and the shower was hot enough, though the water pressure was only moderate. The towels were thin and threadbare, and smaller than full bath towel size. Maybe they dry faster that way, or maybe they need replacing. This was our second year here. Last time they hadn’t received their shampoo and soap shipment, so we had to bring our own, but that was sorted out this year and we had them. The staff were friendly enough. It’s one of just a few hotels in Glen Rose and had the best rates. I know they’re under new ownership, and it feels like they’re trying to improve things, but progress is slow. The renovations could be better: there was a hike in the sheet rock wall beside the bed, and the room felt damp and musty.

We were there for a men’s retreat and didn’t want to sleep in the cabins with bunk beds, so this worked as an alternative. The place is really old and needs a major overhaul, but it did what we needed. The guy at the desk was cool. Just expect the basics: cold AC, hot water, clean sheets, a fridge, and a microwave.

We paid $96 for one night in a room with two queen beds, and I wouldn’t stay again for that price. The pool was tiny but clean. In the room, the carpet felt sticky, the beds were small and broken underneath, and the TV was very small. There was no nightstand, no phone, just one small trash can, and only two small towels for our family of four. The shower sprayed water everywhere, the bathtub needed to be redone, and water stayed in it while we showered. There was mold under the tub faucet and a hole in the wall behind the bathroom door. The deadbolt on the front door wouldn’t lock. Whenever we tried calling or going to the office, it was locked and nobody was there. That room felt worth about $50 to me.
