We were glad we chose The Cranberry. It's in a nice part of town, newer and clean, and worked well for what we needed. The main drawback is its spot beside the freeway. Trucks were climbing or descending the 6% grade about 150 feet beyond our sliding glass door, and their Jake brakes could be loud outside. The hotel is well insulated, though, so the noise was manageable indoors. We slept through the trucks all night. We arrived after dark and weren't sure where to go, but GPS brought us right to the door. There’s no hotel name on the front, so we identified it by the building number, 2700. The hotel opened in 2020 and still had a new smell. The young woman at reception was very friendly and made sure we had what we needed. The halls were wide and looked very clean. Three more employees we met at checkout were kind and went out of their way to help. Our ground floor room in this three-story, 80 room hotel had a king bed and plenty of space. There was a handy spot for suitcases so they wouldn't be underfoot, and lots of storage in the end tables, dresser, nightstands, and extra bathroom shelf. The Bodyology shampoo and conditioner and individual boxed goat milk soap worked well for us. We didn't have breakfast, but understood there was a typical buffet for $5.00 per person, with scrambled eggs, bacon, bread, products, juice, and milk. There's also a bar serving alcoholic drinks in the same area, and an exercise room. We didn't spot a swimming pool. West Virginia has rolling green hills and mountains, while Morgantown's roughly 30,000 residents are spread across the flat spots between the hills. The larger metro area covers more than 1000 mi.². From the freeway you wouldn't guess how tucked away its businesses and urban areas are in the little valleys.

The Tropics is literally right next door, which was a nice perk. Our room had a balcony, and the hotel was very clean. Staff were accommodating, and breakfast was excellent, though it costs five dollars per person.

I’d plan a vacation around staying here. The room was amazing, with comfortable furnishings and a balcony. The bathroom and shower felt like an oasis, and breakfast was delicious. There’s also lots to see and do nearby.

The room was spacious, clean, and recently updated, and the service was great. We arrived late in a blizzard, then realized we’d booked a technically non-refundable rate for the wrong date. They jumped right in to sort it out, even calling a manager at home when the computer wouldn’t cooperate. We really appreciated that and will definitely visit again.

The rooms are well appointed and super clean, the staff are fantastic, and breakfast is decent. You can hear the highway pretty clearly when you're outside, but indoors the sound is masked well.
