Clarion Pointe Charleston - West Ashley

The suite was much bigger than I expected. I thought it would be a studio, but it had a separate living room and felt apartment-style. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and easy to get around, with access through either the front or side door. Parking felt safe, and there were food spots and gas stations close by. They also had snacks up front. The front desk manager, a man with glasses whose name I didn’t get, was reliable and made my day. I could come by each day to pay for my room without any trouble, and the customer service and cleanliness would bring me back to Charleston. The one thing that bothered me was housekeeping. They kept banging on doors when guests hadn’t asked for service, and a few times they opened my door while I was showering, using the restroom, or sleeping. They should focus on rooms people have checked out of and leave guests who are resting alone.

We had a separate bedroom and a living room with a sofa bed, plus nice smart TVs with a clear picture. The bathroom and shower were clean and had what we needed, and the closet had hangers and an ironing board. Breakfast was awesome too. The only snag was a TV that didn’t work, but they fixed it quickly. We stayed four days and WILL come back.

The next day, there weren’t any clean towels or rags available, and housekeeping never changed my dirty sheets. When I reported the toilet wouldn’t flush at check-in, the front desk told me to come get a plunger. I’m not a plumber, and they didn’t offer another room or any other help. I’ll be asking for all my money back.

The room had plenty of decaf coffee but no regular, and the desk was smeared with what looked like maple syrup. The wifi didn’t work at all. I sat on the bench right in front of the check-in podium for 20 minutes waiting, and the only staff I really saw seemed to be maintenance. There are reasons this is the cheapest hotel around.
