I paid $1,507.00 for four nights last weekend, and the conditions were the worst I’ve ever seen in a hotel room, especially at Comfort suites. I was very sick and felt stuck, so I couldn’t do anything except stay through all four nights. They had me once I was checked in, and it became a horrible experience. The shower barely dribbled water. The double bed in Room 109 was stinky, filthy, lumpy, and extremely uncomfortable, and the pillows were small and clumpy. The hotel design is outdated, Room 109 had a bathtub instead of a modern walk-in shower, and the hallways throughout the building were torn apart. The drapes smelled bad, the so-called breakfast was basically garbage, and the staff seemed to have an attitude problem. This place should be shut down. Owners, take a bulldozer and level it to the ground. No one’s going to buy it from you anyway.
The next morning’s breakfast matched the rest of our stay. The sausage patties had greenish oil dripping from them, and the eggs tasted more than a little off. I’m not a hotel snob and have stayed in plenty of places across the country, but this stay made me feel unsafe in so many ways that I felt I had to leave an honest review. My two daughters and I considered using the hot tub, but five very large, rough-looking men watched our every move. We ended up locking ourselves in our rooms overnight. The bathroom had rust, grime, and what looked like possible blood around the tile grout, which hadn’t been fully cleaned. The elevator had a loose panel that shook as it moved, so we took the stairs. We wound up in a laundry and utility area full of angry-looking workers. None of the stair doors warned that it wasn’t a public stairway. At check-in, there was a sign saying truckers couldn’t park there at the moment. I should have taken that as a warning, though at the time I was just confused. The photos I took show what the place was like.
During a work trip, the WiFi didn’t work at all for three consecutive days, and staff said it was my laptop. The rooms were great, and I did use the pool and small gym, but I’d never stay at this hotel again. They’re scammers and very rude. At departure I found a $2.00-per-day charge for using the room safe, which I hadn’t used. I travel throughout the US and have never been charged for an unused room safe before. There was also a $6.00 Gift-shop-Food charge, though I never bought anything from the gift shop. I called on Saturday to dispute the charges and politely ask for a refund. The front desk person was rude, said no, then put me on a long hold when I asked for a manager. I tried again the next day, but was told no manager was on duty. My only guess is that the front desk gave me water and billed me for it. At other hotels, water from the front desk is complimentary.
The location worked perfectly for me, right by the freeway, which is handy if you like background noise to sleep. There’s a constant fan, lots of USB ports on outlets around the room, and a cool alarm clock where you can see the time from the side. It felt safe for a solo female traveler, and there are two food options in the parking lot. The parlor rooms with kitchens come with paper goods, plus a few bowls, plates, cups, and plastic cutlery. That was really thoughtful, more than most places provide. I’d stay here again.
I’ve stayed in a lot of hotels while moving lately, with some good experiences and some bad ones. This has been the best so far. The front desk people are super nice and understanding. I’d recommend it!
