Fairfield Inn & Suites Milwaukee North

I’ve stayed here many times, but after this experience I don’t think I’ll come back. Before booking, I called to ask if they had a crib or pack n play for my baby, and was told they did. At check-in around 4:30 pm, I asked for one and was told they’d get it. I left for an event shortly after 5 and returned around 11 pm. They said it hadn’t been brought up yet, but could bring it soon. After waiting 20 minutes, I went back to the desk, where they told me they’d given it away and had no more. My baby was left without a place to sleep, and nobody even came to tell me. They would have left me waiting for hours.

We had no towels or shower curtain when we got back to our room. The front desk clerk said she’d take care of it, but after 15 minutes nothing had arrived. I went back and saw her leaving at the end of her shift. The new guy moved us to another room after we explained what happened, which is the only reason I’m giving two stars. The AC had been blasting on a 35-degree day when we first walked in, so I turned on the heat and went out to take care of things. Breakfast was very minimal, and the kids skipped the pool because it was so small.

The noise made this stay miserable. We could hear the highway as if a window were open, and the person above us walking around so loudly it felt like they might as well have been in our room. The smoke detector’s blinking light kept flashing all night. The rooms are old and outdated, with worn-out beds and pillows so flat they’re like having none. I tried to get a couple bottles of water from the front desk, but they were out. Avoid this place.

I travel a lot and have stayed in plenty of hotels, but this was the loudest one I can remember. The window barely seemed sealed or insulated. When I first entered, I thought it was open, and even as a heavy sleeper I got no sleep because of the highway noise. I’ll never stay here again.
