Nothing especially good or bad overall. The online kiosk made check-in easy, the area felt safe, and the outdoor space was comfortable. Inside, the room was in good shape and nicely designed, and the cleaning was excellent, right down to the fancy folded towels. A desk or another chair would have helped, since our double room had just one chair. The fountain ran all night and made some noise, so perhaps turning it off overnight would help. Parking was $10 per night, which felt too expensive for the area, especially with free parking on nearby streets. I think $5 or less would make more sense.

The wooden blinds kept most of the light out, and I liked the little seating spot in the parking lot. The room was spotless and good value, but it’s really better for one person than two. Our bed squeaked whenever either of us shifted, and there was only one chair. I’d have given it five stars if I’d been traveling alone.

The Leef has 16 guest rooms, a private lot, and a very small lobby. It uses a kiosk for check-in, the first kiosk-only hotel I’ve seen. The process was easy: a GSA on the kiosk walked us through it, and we signed on the screen. At checkout, you tell the kiosk you’re leaving, it deactivates the keypad lock, and sends your folio by email. The lock is active from check-in until checkout. Parking is $10/night. There’s a small outdoor seating area with little fountains, a nice place to enjoy the evening. We had a room near the front, with parking close by. The rooms are lovely but small, and I felt cozy in ours. The TV initially seemed oddly placed, facing the other wall with just one chair nearby, until I noticed its swivel mount lets you turn it toward the foot of the bed. The stall shower had plenty of room, but the bathroom was small, with a micro skin sink and no counter space. There’s a good-sized closet with a ledge for suitcases and hanging clothes. Housekeeping is on site and services rooms every 2 days unless you ask. We exchanged towels while they were cleaning other rooms, which was all we needed. The location is handy for the freeway entrance, restaurants, bus stops, the high school, and the local park. I grew up around here and remembered this as one of the area’s roughest hotels, a run-down place associated with drugs. Seeing it refreshed was a pleasant surprise. It looks like it officially began taking reservations as a fully operational property in Feb. 2026, so everything was new, updated, and well maintained during our stay. We enjoyed it and would stay here again when visiting.

I’m glad I trusted the good reviews and went with my gut. It’s a tiny, cute, redone drive-in motel, and at this price I wasn’t expecting anything more. The room was spotless, the sheets and pillows clean and white, and the bathroom immaculate. It’s small, but just right for short trips when I need a place to sleep and keep my things. I’ll stay here whenever I’m in LA. The video check-in was different, kind of cool, and very easy. The only thing I wanted was a coffee machine. Otherwise, it’s a phenomenal deal in a great location, in a safe, quiet area. I’d absolutely recommend it and will be back in a couple weeks. I’m not sure why some people have such different experiences.
