Renaissance Chicago Glenview Suites Hotel

Our wedding ceremony here was beautiful, beyond what we imagined. The setup was just right and the space felt special, making the moment unforgettable. The staff made everything run smoothly so we could focus on enjoying the day. We're especially grateful for Hershey's help, and glad we chose this location for the ceremony.

The staff were friendly, and the daily cleaning was excellent. The rooms themselves were spacious, clean, nice, and comfortable. But the freeway noise is the real problem. The building is large and enclosed, yet about 70% of the rooms aren't quiet because the freeways are so close. I found it hard to sleep without earplugs. I asked to switch rooms, but the second one was even louder. We were there during a busy hockey tournament, so no quiet rooms on the parking-lot side were available. Some rooms, including mine, are also quite far from the elevator, which was a struggle with lots of luggage. I loved the room itself, but being unable to sleep matters most.

The staff were friendly, though my wife was called “sir” twice. Restaurant service was okay, and the staff there were nice. The bar had no ginger ale, only ginger beer. Handicap parking was limited. The hotel has too many issues for me to recommend it. Do a better job, Marriott. The room wasn't what you'd expect at Marriott. There was a gross, dark, hardened stain on the carpet between the beds, and a face towel still had a roundish 5-inch red cosmetics stain even after laundering. The fridge freezer needed defrosting and couldn't hold anything. The shower needed a thorough scrub, with dirt and stains in the corners. The suite couch was stained too. That room barely had any light, just a dim ceiling fixture and a small light at the bar. It looked as if lamps had been removed. There were two smoking areas beside the front entrance, both grungy and littered, giving a terrible impression of whether the hotel was clean and safe. Worse, the aromatherapy scents were overpowering and stayed on our clothes. We sat talking in the lobby for an hour, and whatever scent they used there was sickening. It's probably hard to keep labor in Chicago, but these problems were too much.

The bar staff exceeded expectations, especially Sony, who went from table to table checking that guests were happy. We stayed a little longer than planned and enjoyed the restaurant in the lobby. With all the different things we had to do on this trip, the hotel worked out decently.
