Courtyard Glenwood Springs

The room made for a comfortable stay, with a great bed, pillows I really liked, and a shower with just the right pressure. I travel a lot, and this Marriott is worth considering. One thing for management: when a special event brings more people to town, an extra person at the front desk would help. The young man working there did a great job, but clearly could have used a hand. It would mean faster service and less stress for everyone.

The breakfast felt overpriced, though the staff were very polite. The hotel is brand new, so everything was nice. I had a very nice visit, but keep an eye on your speed: the limit is only 25 mph, and I got a $40 photo ticket for going 36.

I’m stuck here for five more days, but I’d tell people to try the Residence inn next door or the Hilton, where you get water every day. I spent weeks and thousands of dollars here, and even as a platinum elite member with over 185000 pts, I wasn’t given an extra perk like additional water. I guess giving guests water worth 0.25 cents a day would put the place out of business. The person who checked me in a few weeks earlier should have known me by now, but apparently not. On check-in day, my keycards wouldn’t open the room. Luckily, a kind housekeeping staff member on my floor let me in, so I didn’t have to haul all my luggage back down three floors. When I went downstairs to have the keys reprogrammed, I got lectured about how they shouldn’t have let me into my room. That’s my last issue with this hotel. And please don’t thank me for sharing this post.

The room setup was uncomfortable: in the king “suite,” the bed is turned sideways in what seems to have been a standard room, leaving barely a foot to reach the nightstand on one side. There’s also a strange half-circle sofa that was awful to sit on. Parking costs $15 a night, despite the hotel being on the edge of town with a big lot of its own. The clerk gave me breakfast hours, 6:30-10:00, but didn’t say it wasn’t included. Even coffee is $3.50. Read the fine print before booking. Not a fan.
