Holiday Inn Express Gloucester by IHG

We’ve been here for seven weeks on a commercial job, and Angelique and her staff have been cordial, attentive, and good at their work. That reflects well on management. Thanks for having us. If we’re back in Gloucester, we know where to stay!

The rooms still could be cleaner, but they’re much improved from before. The hotel has been renovated in recent years and is now updated and well maintained.

I’m giving one star only because the front desk and staff were extremely friendly and attentive. They didn’t have much to work with, though. IHD has really fallen short in making sure the hotel has what it needs. We were covered in ants both nights, with hundreds in our beds. There’s a serious ant problem throughout the hotel. We were in room 313, and it was horrendous. Someone was sent up to spray, but the rooms were already wet and smelled moldy, so I doubt that would have helped much. I can’t praise the staff enough for going above and beyond with what they could do. IHG, get your act together and give this hotel the funds it needs to live up to the reputation you’ve built.

Our three night, four day visit ended after just two nights. There was tree sap on my car, we had no towels, sheets, or blankets, and ants had invaded the bathroom with no pest control. When my kids started saying the ants were biting them and nothing was being done, I had to cut the trip short. We came for what should have been a memorable weekend celebrating my cousin’s wedding, but this was my worst experience with an IHG hotel and a visit to my hometown. The wedding was great. The accommodations were unacceptable.
