Hampton Inn Goldsboro

That supposed room “upgrade” was a mess. We only wanted a bed and a tub, but got a shower, and the room had no hot water. The light and phone didn't work either. We found all that after making two trips to the car, unpacking, and settling in. Then we had to pack up again and carry everything up a floor to another room in one trip. The phone still didn't work there, and the place was dated with a cracked tub. A high price for an old hotel.

I've stayed here lots of times, and the front desk has usually been great. But the new employee wearing a wrist brace was rude to me, and to someone I know on a completely different occasion. Two weeks later, another friend brought up his own bad front desk experience without me asking. It turned out to be the same person, named Tia.

The breakfast was awful, with soggy eggs, stale bread, and weak coffee. My room also wasn't cleaned for three days after I asked, and there are roaches here. I got stuck in the elevator for 20 minutes during my stay. Tia made us leave the pool at 9:43 pm on Saturday, even though the wall sign said it closed at 10. We'd worked a 70-hour week and wanted to sit there. Meanwhile, on a Friday night before my 6 am work start, people were screaming and running through the halls and nothing was done. Customer service is terrible. My company pays for crews to stay here for weeks at a time, but this place doesn't meet my standards as someone who travels for work. Find somewhere else in the area.

The breakfast was really nice, and otherwise things were great. They've made some updates, and the wallpaper and fixtures look better quality, but the work itself is sloppy. There are hooks pulling out of the walls and messy patches. It feels like headquarters supplied the materials, but the local workmanship wasn't very good.
