Candlewood Suites Goodlettsville - Nashville by IHG

We arrived at 3 in the morning with reservations, but the desk clerk wouldn’t let us leave our truck and trailer where we had parked. It was in the parking lot, out of the way, with no signs or fire lane. He said the parking was for his GM and was rude about it. We travel a lot, and we won’t stay here. We canceled and took our business elsewhere. The clerk needs better customer service and more consideration for working people, especially at 3 a.m. We just wanted five hours of sleep.

Our room was clean, with a little dinette and all the basics: cooktop, dishwasher, sink, refrigerator, plates, cups, bowls, soap, paper towels, and silverware. The bathroom was exceptionally clean, and the beds and pillows were very comfortable. At $103 after fees and taxes, the rate felt affordable for what was included: a full gym, small convenience store, and free coffee, tea, and hot chocolate around the clock. There was also an affordable pet fee of $25 per night, compared with $50 or more at other places I checked. We were making the long drive home after a week of holiday visits with family several states away. My husband, our five-month-old baby, our dachshund, and I wanted somewhere around halfway to sleep for a few hours. Before we arrived, I called about buying two AA batteries. The receptionist was kind and checked with her manager rather than just saying no. They didn’t sell them, but said they could give me two for free. At check-in, the man at the desk realized the ones they had were AAA. He apologized, and I said we could go to a store. While my husband unloaded the car, the man came out with AA batteries he’d managed to find somewhere. That was really kind, especially since making another stop with a young baby after hours in a car seat is tough. Check-in was easy, and our 3 a.m. checkout was quick too. The receptionist was friendly, wished us safe travels, and we took advantage of the free coffee before getting back on the road. We’d definitely stay again.

The interstate, I-65, is right outside the windows, so it was a bit noisy through the night. Our room was spacious and clean. It had been booked for two people, but when I checked in alone, the clerk questioned me about why the other person wasn’t there. I don’t think that’s anybody’s business.

The rooms are really clean, and the staff were friendly and helpful. I could hear heavy footsteps overhead starting at 5:45 in the morning.
