Comfort Suites Goodlettsville Rivergate

I booked specifically for a two-person whirlpool tub and requested a room that wasn’t ADA compliant. I don’t need an ADA room, and the one we were given was ADA, meaning someone who needed that setup couldn’t use it. The pillows looked like postage stamps on the king bed. When I tried to fill the tub, there was no stopper or drain plug. The front desk said housekeeping could help in the morning, so we used a wash rag. Once the water was above the jets, we pushed the button, but nothing happened. The whirlpool tub was the whole reason I booked. Then I saw the intake guard was missing, which isn’t good. The bathroom faucet was wobbly, and there was what looked like part of a condom wrapper on the floor by the TV. Breakfast wasn’t kept warm, which is a real problem if you don’t arrive when it’s first put out. I’m disappointed with this location. It could be fantastic with some care, but corporate needs to visit and decide whether they want their name attached to it.

The room, 213, was pretty nice and clean, with a comfortable king bed. I slept through the night okay, though there were lots of people walking the halls all night. The sheet had a yellow stain at the foot of the bed, which I noticed after pulling back the covers to check for bed bugs. The desk clerk was pretty good at check-in, and my stay was decent. I didn’t have breakfast and just checked out. The elevator needs an upgrade and smelled a little, and the carpets throughout could use work. You can tell it’s an old hotel. I wasn’t expecting a five-star place, and you get what you pay for. I stayed Tuesday night, January 27th, because my power at Graycroth Apts was on day three of being out. Would I stay again? Probably not.

There was a cockroach in my clothing and another bug crawling in the bathroom sink. The place was filthy: a brown-stained mattress, exposed wiring, and stains on the walls, couch, window shade, and comforter. Worst Choice Hotel/Comfort Suites ever. Don’t go. Just don’t.

We canceled our second night because the hotel was so bad. The room smelled strongly of mold and mildew, with mold on the bathroom ceiling. The comforter had several stains, the mirrors were dirty, and there were handprints on the headboard. The whirlpool jets were black. The blow dryer was broken. They eventually brought a new one, but only after we asked several times. The pool was freezing, and the hot tub shown in the photos had been filled in. The pool room ceiling had large holes and was falling apart. The carpets looked like they’d never been cleaned, the halls reeked of marijuana, and the elevator floor was extremely sticky, with liquid stains all over the walls. I rarely review places and have never written a bad one before, but I’d give this hotel negative stars if I could.
