Magnuson Hotel Nashville North

We booked a king room for $85, but were told only queen rooms were available. We were exhausted and took it anyway, then found the bed hard and springy and the sheets dirty. I hope those were stains and not signs the sheets had been used by someone else. There was no toilet paper, and the very thin towels had black stains. The bathroom had no lights at all, not even bulbs. A fixture was hanging off the wall, and the lamp between the beds didn't work. The only working light was in the far corner, so you'd have to cross the dark room to turn it on. Someone could have been hurt. I know there was a lot going on in the area, but the hotel should know the condition of a room before assigning it, and adjust the price if needed. We were there as a last resort. Thank God I didn't have children with me. I won't be back, and please don't stay here if you can help it.

You get what you pay for, I suppose. The bed was so uncomfortable that the floor or even your car might have been better for sleeping. The walls are thin, too, so you hear what's going on in other rooms. If you want a cheap stay, expect that kind of service.

The room was dirty, with a melted comforter, stained towels, broken lamps, and other things that didn't work. That followed a ridiculous start to our stay at the Executive in Rivergate. My girlfriend and I needed a couple of nights, and the rates were low for Goodlettsville. Check-in was clearly listed as 3 p.m., but at 1 p.m. we were nearby with luggage and asked if we could come in early to leave our things and explore. The first answer was no, then it became $45, then $30, and finally $25. There was only one car in the lot, so it didn't look like they were full. When I said most places wouldn't mind an hour or two early if they weren't packed, he acted offended. I had to work an extra day, so we paid for a third night. My girlfriend picked up our only key that morning. After work, I came back while she was shopping and asked the office for a second key. Through a voice-only Ring camera, I was rudely told no. When I said that wasn't professional or polite, I was shouted at to go away. He said, "You got key this morning, where is your girlfriend? That is your only key, now go." When I tried to ask why, he cut me off with, "Bye! Leave now! Bye, BYE! You go or I call police!" I've never encountered such inept, rude behavior at a hotel. The place is filthy and disgusting, and the staff were the worst I've come across. I strongly recommend never considering a stay here. DO NOT STAY HERE!!! You WILL regret it.

I arrived at midnight for my reservation, but there was nobody at the front desk. A number was posted, so I called and spoke with an Indian man who sounded like he might be offshore. He just said check-in time had passed and hung up. When I called again, he said it was too late and I would have to find somewhere else to stay. He didn't care at all. With so little notice, I couldn't find another hotel and had to sleep in my car. This was one of the worst experiences I've had. Even if it were $1 a night or free, I wouldn't consider staying here. Low advertised prices aren't worth the risk. There's a 99% chance you won't have a room when you arrive, let alone get decent service or room quality. Worst decision I've ever made, and hands down the worst hotel in Nashville.
