Ramada Hotel & Conference Center by Wyndham Plymouth

I’ve been here six times over the last two months because the kids and I love it. It’s peaceful, but still close to everything, and they even decorated for christmas. The place may seriously make winter easier to get through for me. The hotel is old, though they’re always cleaning and fixing things. Breakfast is free and has options, but eggs and sausage aren’t consistently there, which I can fairly expect. The front desk is almost always available, and I’ve never had anyone be rude. One useful tip: the buttons for the pool toys and hot tub jets are by the shower/bathroom. I’m looking forward to trying the gym, renting a bigger room or one connected to the pool area, and checking out the theatre.

For just two nights, it wasn’t awful, but I wouldn’t choose to stay here again. We only needed a bed and bathroom, and the room was okay for the $75 a night we paid, around $30 per person. We booked through Airbnb, and the pictures my friend showed me gave us a sense of the room beforehand. Maybe our room was better than some others, but I’m not sure. Check-in was a hassle: it seemed nobody was working, and the employee we found didn’t appear to know what she was doing. We did eventually get our keys. The pool looked sketchy and was freezing. The ice machine was broken, and there were no water bottles anywhere in the building. Having a restaurant attached was convenient, though it was pricey.

It’s been almost three weeks and the $100 deposit still hasn’t come back. They didn’t mention the fee until check-in, and both the hotel and my bank say I can’t do anything while the money is on hold. The hotel keeps insisting they returned it, but I wouldn’t be calling them and the bank over and over this week if I could see it in my account. I’ve asked for the manager several times; they say he’ll be in soon, but he never appears. I’m over four hours away, so going to the front desk isn’t realistic, and I doubt it would help anyway. The room was actually dirty, the place was run-down, and I had to get the bedding changed because there was hair and dirt on the pillows and blankets. The swimming area was the only upside, along with being able to visit Minnesota. This is ridiculous, all of it is BS.

I kept smelling smoke inside, even though the hotel is supposed to be smoke-free. There was also a bug in my room, and the breakfast selection was pretty limited. The room exteriors smelled like cigarettes and garbage, too. Pool hours weren’t good for me, since it doesn’t open until 10:00am and should open earlier.
