Salt Ash Inn

We stayed here back when it was a Bed and Breakfast, and the owners were extremely hard workers. It showed. Things have changed, but the place has declined drastically. The current owner can be hard to find. When I finally saw him and asked about coffee in the morning, he showed me the pot, coffee and filters so I could make it myself. I almost laughed. He can't get up to make his guests a pot of coffee? The room was dirty, and the linens definitely hadn't been washed. Towels were thin and threadbare. I gather the bar area is used in winter, good luck with that. For the price we paid, with no refund at all, the stay was a true disappointment. We won't be back.

The innkeepers were really friendly and pointed us to a fantastic breakfast place about 10 minutes away. The place is simple, cozy and clean, with really comfortable beds. I slept like a baby. The price was truly reasonable. If you want a no-frills, affordable place to rest while enjoying Killington and other local spots, this is the one.

The bar was a bright spot, with some fun craft beers and a nice fireplace. The room was pleasant and big enough for three, and there was heat, though it went out for a few hours overnight. A daytime power outage also interrupted the water before things were fixed. The stay was okay, but despite being called a bed and breakfast, there wasn't any breakfast.

The rooms were clean where it counted, with fresh sheets and towels and a clean bathroom, but the windows and blinds were really dusty. The weeknight price was very reasonable. Still, with three rooms occupied, there was no breakfast, no coffee set out in the dining room, and nobody around. It was clear there was no plan to feed the four of us, and the pub had been closed for months.
