Crislip Motor Lodge

For about $75 a night, Crislip gives you a spacious, clean room and a little bar serving beer. It's locally owned and the only hotel in Grafton, WV. It's an older place, so don't expect modern amenities. The staff are very informal and friendly, and they'll tell you about local events and things to do. A good place to stay as long as you don't expect too much from a local spot.

For a cheap stay, it was worth the price. The rooms were clean, parking was adequate, the WiFi worked, and the staff were nice. The downsides were dim lighting, a P-tech unit that didn't work properly, and no coffee pot or breakfast bar.

I stayed for four months and had repeated problems that went nowhere. Heaters in most rooms didn't work, there was no hot water, and the sink was broken when I moved in. After telling them about it for three weeks, I fixed it myself. There were huge spiders in the rooms, and I was told to buy foggers myself. Staff also love to gossip and share everyone's business. I'd strongly suggest taking your hard-earned money somewhere else.

The motel is no-frills, but very clean, friendly, affordable, and in a great spot. Tygart Lake State Park is a 10-minute drive away. Grafton is a lovely little town, especially on holiday weekends, though check before you visit.
