Ruebel Hotel

The room and bed were spotless and comfortable, and we had a beautiful view from our balcony. What really made our weekend, though, was how Lisa welcomed us after our delayed arrival and rough start. She was so warm and helped us feel better right away. Her husband Tony was just as kind when we met him later. I don’t often connect with people that quickly, and it was lovely. We had an amazing time from the moment we arrived. I wish we lived closer so we could stay at the Ruebel all the time. Wishing them the best, and we can’t wait to see what comes next. We’ll definitely be back!

The owners and locals we met were so much fun, and this was the nicest place we stayed during our five-month, 25,000-mile trip around the United States. The big drawback was the cold. Our room and the hallways were both chilly. Hopefully the new owners can sort it out. If you’re visiting in the colder months, book at least two days ahead so they have time to warm the room up for you. I’d give the place a million stars otherwise.

The Illinois Room was beautiful, and I kept thinking about all the history those walls must have seen. The hotel still feels modern enough for me, too. We came with friends for New Year’s and had a lovely evening with a live band and fireworks. Happy 2026, and thanks for the great time and wonderful hospitality.

We had a fabulous breakfast and the cocktails were just right. Our room was immaculate, and the building itself is lovely. The owners are a wonderful couple. We’ll be back!
