The staff at Phantom Ranch were wonderful, and it was clear they enjoy working there. I got to stay in a cabin after camping at Bright Angel for my first two nights. I hadn't managed to get a ranch room at first, but one opened up while I was down there, which gave me an extra day in the canyon. Keep checking for cancellations. I booked breakfast on two mornings and steak dinner three nights in a row, and both were so good that I thought they were worth the price. Meals are family style, so you can eat until you're full, though it's one steak and one baked potato per person. Sometimes there are extra meal spots even if you didn't book ahead, so ask. I hope to return for Thanksgiving or Christmas one year. This was my first time at the ranch last week, during the first week of June, and what an amazing experience.

My girlfriend and I stopped in at 5:30 on our way back to the South Rim after doing R3. The sign said the snack bar was open until 6:30, and there were around 15 people dining, but the snack bar itself was closed. Before we could even ask, a staff member said, “Do you have a reservation? Otherwise, you’re not supposed to be in here.” It was a really rude way to tell us they weren't selling items. The posted hours need correcting, and staff should be shown how to speak to visitors trying to spend money. A few years ago this place was welcoming and social for people crossing the canyon, and lemonade was $5 with free refills. Now it's $7 with no refill. Something seems to have changed. Don't get excited about stopping here.

The food was delicious and the place felt clean and welcoming. Four of us hiked down from the north rim, stayed at Phantom Ranch, then hiked out on the south rim the next day. It was a tough hike, physically and mentally, but we're so grateful we got to see the Grand Canyon this way. A once-in-a-lifetime trip!

Sunset from our cabin and time relaxing in the creek were some of the things we loved about Phantom Ranch. We came as two families with five kids, ages 9 to 15, and everyone had a great time. The meals were delicious, and all of us enjoyed hiking in and out. We'd do it again in a heartbeat. Thanks to the wonderful crew at the ranch for making it such a special place. Truly a trip of a lifetime.

The canyon scenery was breathtaking, and the night sky was so clear and beautiful that I'll never forget it. Our cabin at Phantom Ranch was cozy and clean, with cute cowboy decor. I was especially glad to have a toilet in the room, and one that flushed! Dinner was family style, which made it fun to get to know the other hikers, and the food was delicious. Our waiter was very attentive. After the long hike down, the clean, hot showers felt wonderful. Thank you for helping make a core memory and checking off a bucket-list trip.
