Fairfield Inn & Suites East Grand Forks

The rooms and hotel are nice, and breakfast was what you'd expect at a Marriott. It's a bit of a drive to anything nearby. I rated it lower because of the construction. There was no notice from the hotel or anything on the website. The work left a foul smell all across the first floor, along with some dust in the air. The back and front doors were left open, so the lounge area was often very cold.

The area was quiet, and getting to the airport was just a short drive. My room was clean and had lots of space, and front desk service was great.

I liked that the hotel was clean, nice, and quiet, but the beds were really uncomfortable. The king was very hard, especially as a side sleeper, and the pullout mattress was thin enough that I could feel the bars through it. The waffle batter was so salty I couldn't eat it.

Breakfast was good and well stocked, and the common areas were clean and maintained. It's near downtown, with quick routes around town. At night, bright parking lot lights came straight through the cheap decorative curtains, which didn't cover the full windows. There were also loud noises in the middle of the night, like someone opening and shutting doors over and over. That happened all three nights, and I couldn't figure out why. The shower was a bit damaged, with a leak and a flickering bulb, and toothpaste had splashed onto the bathroom mirror. Service couldn't confirm a late checkout until the day of, which isn't usual for Marriott.
