The front desk jumped on the issue right away, and maintenance answered promptly. You were wonderful, and may the Lord forgive your sins during your penance work here. 🙏 That was the bright spot in my King Suite "resort" stay, with its balcony supposedly made for taking in the starry night air. The sliding door wouldn’t open, and after 45 minutes of trying, we accepted that it wasn’t going to budge and moved rooms. I was close to weeping into the curtains and begging for professional help. If they’d believed me after five minutes and moved us then, I wonder how much I might have spent at the casino. As for the rest of the experience, there was no room service or complimentary breakfast option. The best they could offer was a dry roast beef sandwich from downstairs in a plastic container, no mayo, and a shrug. That took some of the excitement out of the evening, though we can be flexible. I looked around the room for a mint on the pillow, a thank-you note, bottled water, fresh fruit, or flowers. Nothing. Details matter, apparently not here, today or ever. I thought maybe the iconic smells of Grand Island would revive me, but I’m no Einstein. The neon underlay on the building romanced me and I was seduced, Your Honor. Our ideas of a resort experience are poles apart.
The drinks were delicious, and the supervisor and women at the Draft Day bar were amazing, so personable. They even helped my husband find a drink he could have despite his citrus allergy. I’d give the bar five stars and the kitchen one if I could. My mom, husband, and I ordered two smash burgers with fries and a full order of traditional wings. The wings we got were good, but the burgers were dry and hard as a rock, so overcooked they were hard to cut in half. They shouldn’t have been served. While we waited for someone from the kitchen to check the bad food, we saw another order of wings brought back to the bar because they were drenched in seasoning. We heard from people afterward that the kitchen’s been having this problem for a while. It’s sad that the servers and bartenders have to take the heat for mistakes that aren’t theirs.
The view was beautiful, and the resort looked fancy when we first arrived. Service was decent too. I was there for my boyfriend’s dad and stepmom’s anniversary, invited along to the casino resort in my hometown, so the visit wasn’t really for me. Still, parts of the experience disappointed me. The food didn’t fill us up, and the atmosphere felt dull. Upstairs, where the rooms and pools are, things seemed neither clean nor organized. Towels, silverware, and bottled water weren’t always stocked, so we had to go downstairs for what we needed. A microwave in the rooms would’ve helped, too. The bathroom doors just slide open instead of locking, which didn’t feel private. I didn’t get to explore every floor, but I heard there’s a steak and seafood restaurant on one of the upper levels. The place has some nice features, though there’s plenty to improve. Hope this helps anyone considering a visit.
We were in Grand Island for a business trip and had a delightful stay at the lovely Grand Island Casino resort. Everyone was so kind, and Ruthie’s was amazing. We’re looking forward to coming back on our next trip.
We had a wonderful two-night stay. The rooms are really nice, the staff are friendly, and we loved having both an indoor and outdoor pool. I didn’t do too well at the casino, but my husband made up for it. We stayed during the week when rooms were 140 a night. We planned to add a third night, but the rate was 375 for one night. It’s a very nice place, but I wouldn’t pay that much for a room.
