The front desk clerk was friendly and helpful, the biscuits and gravy at breakfast were very good, and there's a large park and lake nearby. The room, though, had sticky carpet and walls that looked like they hadn't been cleaned in a long time, with stuff running down them. Neither lamp worked, and the smoke alarm was in a drawer, as if it had been ripped from the ceiling. The tub drained very slowly while I showered. The sheets were so thin you could see through them, the bedspread had burn holes, and the dirty coffee pot kept shutting off.

The owners were friendly even though we arrived well after midnight, and we were glad to support a small business instead of a big chain. It was a good value, close to the interstate, and the price stayed reasonable over a holiday weekend while we were driving late into the night. The room wasn't modern and had dated furnishings, but it was larger than many expensive newer hotels, with a king bed, couch, table, and room for our dog to stretch out. We appreciated the sink being separate from the shower and toilet area, so one person could get ready while the other used the bathroom. The bedding wasn't new, but it was clean. We're happy the place is pet friendly. We don't usually eat breakfast, but took a look: waffles, toast, cereal, coffee, and juice. The lot also looks big enough for larger trucks.

An interstate closure from a winter blizzard 40 miles ahead left me here for 18 hours, and it worked out very well. This older, family-run motel is just off Interstate 80, next to a beautiful park. My room was spacious and clean, with a couch, plus both an outside entrance and a door into the hallway, a really convenient design. Check-in went smoothly, and everyone on staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast included make-your-own waffles, cinnamon rolls, bread, cereal, biscuits and gravy (very tasty), milk, and coffee. There is hard-surface parking for trucks and buses too. I appreciated this family business. Grand Island Nebraska has plenty more to see and do.

We had a one-night stay in a pet-friendly room, and it was a miserable roadside dive. The carpet felt damp and musty, our window was stuck open with a broken screen, and the AC was so loud we couldn't sleep with it on. The shower wouldn't drain. Ugh.
