Hampton Inn Grand Junction

The main draw is the location. If you’re sticking around downtown, you can get about without getting in the car, and Main Street has lots of boutiques and places to eat. It’s easy and safe to walk around there. Service was decent, neither bad nor great. As a Hilton Silver Member, I’ve had front desk staff at other Hilton affiliated hotels go the extra step and offer complimentary snacks and bottled water. I’m not completely sure where the tracks were, but I heard a couple of trains pass every evening. It didn’t distract me much, though some people may find it more annoying.

Juls at the front desk was a gem. She gave great service, recognized my membership level, and thanked me for choosing the Hampden Inn. The location is great, and downtown is beautiful. My room was clean and comfortable. Parking felt secure, and you can come and go as often as you like, though you do have to pay. I’ll stay here again when I’m in Grand Junction.

If you expect Hilton quality, avoid this place like the plague. The beds were absolutely terrible, and there was mold throughout the room. We asked for another room, but staff put down a mattress pad and it was still awful. The manager said all the rooms have the same mattress. The floor might have been more comfortable, but it was gross. The remodel looks awful, like spray paint over a rusty Yugo. Location and breakfast were okay. Otherwise it felt like Motel 6 at Hilton rates, plus they charge for parking. There are plenty of better choices outside the Hilton chain, even for a Diamond member like me. I’d have been happier in a tent.

Ashley at the front desk helped us check in and was very accommodating, even though I’d made a mistake with the room bookings. The rooms were clean, and the location made it easy to visit the area. Breakfast was okay, about what you can ask of a Hampton.
