Quality Inn Grand Rapids Near Dowtown

We stayed two and a half weeks and honestly didn't have any complaints. The hotel can seem intimidating from outside, but it looks like they're trying to improve. There's security now and they remove anyone who seems sketchy. It seemed like some maintenance work was happening every day, and whenever I mentioned an issue, they already knew about it. We only wished breakfast was better, though we understand why it's prepared the way it is. Marco is great!

The staff were welcoming, and the room and bathroom seemed clean. The location is a little rough, but for a cheap one-night stay, it was fine.

It's definitely a budget hotel, and there were plenty of amenities for the price, but I'd personally avoid it. My room smelled of urine and cigarettes, and the bed had clearly just been remade, with dead ants all over it. When we walked in, it looked like someone had slept in it; there was no toilet paper and hair all over the bathroom. The shower only had cold water, and the pool was so dirty I couldn't bring myself to swim. Housekeeping did the bare minimum. The vending machines had no soda, and although breakfast had a wide selection, it tasted sour and I wouldn't recommend eating it. The front desk woman also accused my partner and me of being under 18 when we checked in, even though we're both 21. Very weird vibes. It was somewhere to sleep, but I would have rather paid the extra $30 to stay at a holiday inn.

The room was fairly clean and nice, and the refrigerator worked, though one part of it was broken. The bathroom was so small that even a little lady had to walk through the doorway sideways. The surrounding area wasn't great, especially for a woman spending most of her time alone. The jacuzzi was disgusting and very slippery, making it unsafe to get in and out of. Don't fill it too high before getting in, either, because water went everywhere once we were inside. We had to find a tool to remove the drain plug since it was broken. I also wouldn't recommend any extracurricular activities on the bed, if you know what I mean. The mattress moved around so much it nearly killed us twice before we gave up. At checkout, we waited ages for someone from the office even though it was exactly checkout time and another employee was already cleaning up breakfast. All we had to do was hand over the key. They need a key drop box.
