Rodeway Inn Grandville - Grand Rapids

Sani made check-in simple after I booked online. He was so friendly and helpful, and I felt safe staying here. You need a key to enter the hallway, and the room has several locks. Both the hallway and room were very clean, with no strange smell. The location is handy too, close to Meijer and lots of restaurants. Really glad I stayed.

Clean room, no bugs, a large mini fridge, and great service, all for a good price. I booked ahead but hadn't noticed the $100 deposit. They asked for $50, and when I only had $30 left, they let me pay that. The location is close to everything. There wasn't breakfast, but I was told it wasn't used much and they cut it to lower rental costs. That made sense to me.

The price is good, and the hotel has been kept up nicely. There's a pool and an arcade room with a pinball machine, claw machine, motorcycle ride, vintage Pac-Man, football, and air hockey. You can also get pop and snacks from vending machines. Bowling and a roller rink are next door, along with Branns, and the bowling alley has a large arcade. A few things have gone away: they no longer offer the advertised free breakfast, there's no hot tub now, and the pool area no longer has tables and chairs for gatherings.

The room was really clean and pretty, and I liked having a second-floor poolside room. Traveling alone, I never felt unsafe. The water was wonderfully hot, so I didn't miss the hot tub as much as I expected. There was no breakfast, but that didn't matter to me since I don't eat much in the morning. The location suited my needs, though the parking lot took some getting used to. Check-in involved repeating several times that I was on a business trip. I appreciated the care they took to make sure I wasn't using a church credit card improperly, even if it felt a bit awkward. I was also asked to sign a paper to use the pool. I had a lot of luggage and then learned there was no elevator. I guess that was listed on the site, so that's on me. The outside window looked onto another window, the hallway, and the hotel wall. The remote was broken but still usable, and the channel selection wasn't great compared with other hotels.
