The moment I saw Orchard House, I could picture getting married there. Joe and the whole team kept us in the loop and made sure the setup and the day itself matched what we wanted. I’d absolutely recommend it to couples looking for a wedding venue.

The grounds were lovely to wander around, and even the outside of the house was beautiful. Inside, our room was cozy, with a little fireplace area and access to the back deck. The bed was really comfortable, and the whole stay felt peaceful and relaxing. Breakfast was a highlight. I’m not usually much of a bacon person, but the candied bacon was amazing. The French toast with berries was so good too, easily one of the best B&B breakfasts I’ve had. I loved staying here and hope to come back.

It’s easy to see why people pick Dean’s lovely inn for weddings. The place is attractive and clean, and the food is delicious. Just don’t show up late for wine and cheese, because once the wine is gone, Dean doesn’t refill it.

We had such a good time at the venue, and I’m still hearing compliments from friends and family about it. Dean was kind, professional, and great to work with. The pinewoods made a gorgeous, unusual spot for the ceremony, and I loved the scenery and the whole feel of the place. We were married here on Jun 15th, 2019, and I wanted to share the practical details too, since choosing a venue can be tough. We rented the whole BnB for the weekend. It cost more, but having two nights meant we could take our time, see friends who’d come from out of town, and enjoy two really dang good home-cooked breakfasts from Dean. There’s no staff included, so you’ll need time and friends to handle decorations. I knew that going in and was fine with it. The main house, where the women got ready, has tasteful, eclectic decor. It isn’t especially ritzy, so that may not suit everyone, but we were comfortable and had plenty of room, mirrors, and bathrooms. The Orchard House also looked beautiful in the sneak peek photos of our getting-ready time. The guys used the separate Carriage House. It’s smaller, but they had a good time, listened to music, and enjoyed drinks and cigars on the adjoining patio. There are spacious shared areas too. I sat in the breakfast nook with coffee and tearfully wrote my vows at the last minute, because I procrastinate. We’d planned a bonfire, but heavy rain meant we took the after-party to a dive bar in Pataskala instead, which worked for our group. There are four bedrooms, with beds and a pull-out sofa for a comfortable total of 10. We also fit a couple on an air mattress in one room. It was nice to have the space, though figuring out who stayed where and when took some planning. The rooms couldn’t fit our whole wedding party, so we had to choose who would stay. Other guests from out of town used local AirBnbs and hotels. Ubers and Lyfts came within 10-15 minutes, which seemed like a good alternative to hiring a shuttle. Dean was very laid back and accommodated all our unusual needs. Rain is the main thing to think through. The reception is basically in a field, and even with tents, weather can throw off your plans. Dean did a good job arranging the setup and tent layout to limit the trouble, but there’s only so much you can do. We had dry, sunny weather until around 6-7pm, about cocktail hour, then the rain really came down. Our dance floor was under the tent, which left less room for seating and the guest book. Because of the rain and tight space, my guestbook and photo booth didn’t get set out until late, and I ended up with only about 8 entries. I also think the caterer may have been more at fault here, but the food was ice cold because wind kept blowing out the sternos. The caterers had a tent without a curtain, which I’d chosen not to rent. If they, or someone else, had taken the initiative to rearrange things, we might have avoided it. I’d suggest renting bigger tents and more space than you expect to need. Ask Dean about it if you book here. Maybe curtains could just be included in the rental price, though I’m not sure. Expect muddy shoes and dresses. We’re a laid-back bunch and danced in the mud, which actually made the night more memorable. I’d recommend the venue if you want something distinctive, enjoy having some control over the DIY details, and don’t mind needing a little luck with the weather.

Dean and Jodi have turned me and my fiance into guests for life. The hospitality, service, and atmosphere at the bed and breakfast were way beyond what we expected. I can’t really put it into words, so my best advice is to go see it for yourself. You won’t be disappointed.
