Hampton Inn&Suites Dallas-Dfw Airport N/Grapevine

I came back expecting to go to my room and found my things had been taken out. Staff had entered and removed all my bags and personal belongings without my permission, even though everything had still been in the room. No one called, knocked, or gave me any warning that I was being checked out. It was frustrating and uncomfortable to have my privacy ignored and my belongings handled without consent. A basic call to the room or a knock could have prevented the whole situation. I wouldn't expect this kind of treatment from a hotel.

We never actually stayed here. A couple of nights ago, after drinks at another nearby hotel chain, two friends and I accidentally took an Uber to this one. The parking lot was spotless, with no potholes, plenty of spaces, and enough room for our driver to turn around and take us to the right hotel. If the lot reflects the condition inside, this place deserves its five stars.

The hotel was clean, the room was quiet, and we slept well on a comfortable bed. Breakfast was good, with different hot dishes each day. The pool was very nice, and the exercise room was good too. Staff were friendly and helpful, the front desk interior looked really nice, and parking was close and convenient. We stayed three nights and enjoyed it enough that we'd probably come back. We didn't use the shuttle, so I can't comment on it. There were a few things that could be improved. Some maintenance seemed delayed. Our faucet was partly out of its counter hole, so we worried it might break and asked someone to look at it. They fixed it, but it still didn't feel sturdy. The light above the mirror and the bathroom nightlight didn't work, even after we asked about the mirror light. Our room faced the parking lot, where very bright lights partly faced the hotel. The shade didn't block all the light, and the heavy curtains were decorative, so they couldn't be drawn. The room never got fully dark. The AC worked well, especially on constant low fan, but there was a musty, dirty-socks smell that was odd. We got used to it, and it wasn't too strong. The elevators also looked shabby, and the one on the left clunked every time we went down in it. Planes fly over on their way to the airport, but they weren't extremely noisy. A Waffle House and gas station were within easy walking distance, though those seemed to be about the only nearby places I could see. A Comfort Inn is right next door. This could be an excellent hotel if the owners address some of these issues.

The shuttle can take you anywhere within a five-mile radius, including the airport. Lathan dropped me at the mall and picked me up right on time, and was incredibly hospitable. I was also dropped at work and at the airport on my way out, which saved me another $50-70 in rideshare costs. MIMI knew the property and area well and gave excellent service throughout my four-night stay. The hotel was spotless, from the lobby and hallways to my room, the pool, and the elevator. Breakfast was complimentary, with a good variety and different hot items each morning. The dining room was always clean, and the staff greeted me with smiles and a cheerful “good morning.” I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. Irving is an awesome Dallas suburb with a lot to do, and this property is a great option. 10/10 recommend!
