Lantern House Motel

The renovation turned out great. Our room was clean and comfortable, and the place felt really cozy. We also enjoyed the deck.

Please do not stay here. After two nights with my boyfriend, something unsettling happened on the second night. While he was showering, I went out to the car. When I came back, the back door was open, even though I know we had locked it. We both felt so uncomfortable that we left. On the drive home, my car started making odd noises. Once it felt safe to pull over, we opened the hood and found that someone had tampered with the car. The transmission fluid dipstick had been left lying flat under the hood. We checked the whole car and found scuff marks by the driver-side door, which showed us how someone had gotten in. I booked through air bnb and contacted them about what happened. The response was very unprofessional, and I had to involve the police. They went to check the cameras, but none faced my car or room, which seemed very strange. Traveling as a woman is scary enough, and this made my worst nightmare feel real. One wrong move and it could have gone differently for me. These people are slimy and disgusting. They removed my air bnb review, so I had to post here. They also still won't give me a phone number to reach them after the police got involved.

The price is hard to beat, and the staff were easy to work with. It's close to great dining in Great Barrington and to local attractions. The place was very clean and updated. Just keep in mind there's no kitchen.

The photos don't show how much the place has changed. It was completely renovated, and I wish I'd taken pictures. Very clean and cozy, with a great location. Even though it's on a busy street, it stayed fairly quiet. The walk-in shower is a good size, and the room was warm: it was in the low 30s outside, the thermostat read 65 inside, and I was still comfortable in shorts and a T-shirt. There's also the cutest red coffee maker, and the mini fridge kept everything ice cold.
