Hampton Inn Great Falls

The staff were friendly and accommodating, and the conference facilities were very nice. The conference hosts could have made the setup more comfortable, though. The bright lights gave me terrible headaches, even though they could have turned half of them off and still had plenty of light. The air conditioning worked so well I was cold most of the time. Our top-floor end room was quiet, which I really appreciated as a light sleeper. It was cozy and clean, and the bed was comfortable. The breakfast looked more than adequate, and I overheard people saying the waffles were good. The room is a bit dated, though. The carpet needs a deep clean or replacement, and the bathroom needs a thorough cleaning around the shower door track and caulked joints.

I've been a Hilton diamond for several years and have spent 55 nights at Hilton properties so far this year. I usually take travel hiccups in stride. This time, I had morning meetings and a late afternoon flight, and asked for an extra hour past checkout so I could change out of my professional clothes and fly more comfortably. I'm used to hotels either granting that with a smile or explaining that a busy room turnover makes it impossible. Neither happened here. Someone shoved a laminated sheet in my face and said I could stay an extra hour if I paid another $40. I found that unreasonable and extortionate, especially for people who spend thousands with the chain. I called Hilton corporate, and they told me that wasn't their policy and franchisees make their own rules. I'll never stay at this property again, and I hope you won't either.

Before we left town, my husband and I stopped by to see whether the room where our daughter and her schoolmates had stayed for wrestling had been cleaned. It hadn't, so a front desk attendant went up to look for the few things and bright pink wrestling shoes our daughter had lost. She didn't find them in the room, but did locate one missing shoe on the school bus, which we couldn't check ourselves. I didn't get the attendant's name, but we're very grateful she went out of her way to help ease our minds before we left.

The staff were rude, though the room was fine. The app didn't work on Friday, so I checked out in person at the front desk. When I came back to check in Sunday, I found out they hadn't checked me out after all. They said it was too late to fix and charged me for the days I wasn't there. Later, another staff member grilled me when I came in through the side door with dinner, apparently thinking I was a food delivery person. I wouldn't recommend this hotel.
