Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Greensboro - East by IHG

The staff were friendly and helpful, and I appreciate that Holiday Inn Express is a pet-free and smoke-free brand because of my allergies. This property, though, needs serious renovation. The room seemed clean at first, but felt grubby: paint was worn off, repairs to the bathroom ceiling were poor, there was mold on the tiles and hair on the shower wall, and the carpet looked filthy, though that might have been its color. The window blind was shredded, falling apart, and so dirty I didn't want to touch it. The bathroom was large, but had an old-fashioned tub rather than the shower we've found at other Holiday Inn Express hotels. It also took the manager three tries to make the key work. Corporate needs to take a look at this hotel.

Room 104 wasn't clean and fresh the way rooms usually are when I stay at Holliday inn. The bed linen didn't seem very fresh either, and the bedding felt like cheap synthetic material.

The breakfast and amenities are nice, and the rooms are clean, though they smell musty. Noise was the bigger issue: in the morning I could hear every hallway door closing and even toilets flushing in other rooms.

I was meant to stay five nights but left after two. Everyone on staff whom I dealt with was wonderful, and I especially appreciate the housekeeping team who looked after my husband and me, along with the helpful front desk team. My problem was an elderly Black woman with curly hair who was repeatedly yelling at and belittling staff. I don't know her role, but that isn't how anyone should be treated. I even applied for a job there after seeing how the staff were treated. A kind young woman with short hair and glasses was helping me, then I heard that same shouting voice and finally saw who it was. Before introducing herself, she criticized my clothes and appearance. Applying for a job can mean all sorts of things; she didn't know my circumstances or where I was in life. It's unacceptable for the team to face that kind of treatment for so little pay. I hope she realizes what a good team she has before it's too late.
