Motel 6 Greensboro, NC - I-40

The place feels like a collection of hotel problems rolled into one. I tried checking in around noon and was told there'd be a $25 early fee, so I came back at 3. The staff seemed overwhelmed, with confusion and no accountability, and I reluctantly took my key. The elevator was sticky and grimy. In the room, there was a gap between the door and its seal, letting the warmth escape, and it felt freezing with no real decor. I'd booked a kitchenette, but it had two tiny taps, no microwave or refrigerator, and no chair for the coffee table. The sheet on the bed was paper-thin, while it was 18 degrees outside. At the desk, I was told refrigerators were for studios and they were short on microwaves, even though the photos showed space for both. When I kept asking about it, a man with locs defended his coworkers as if this were a luxury resort, then argued with me in front of what seemed to be his girlfriend. The grounds were strewn with trash and grime, and the building looked worn out. There's little comfort or basic equipment here. The photos don't show how bad it feels in person. My sister and I travel often for work, and I've stayed in plenty of motels. This one is my favorite stop. The rooms are consistently tidy, and the staff are friendly and helpful. Tianna in the office always finds me good deals, and they make it feel like home. When you want somewhere quiet and clean after a long day on the road, this is a good choice. It feels like a four-star motel at a one-star price.

Shay and the rest of the crew made a difficult time easier, and I'm grateful for that. I really appreciated how professional Shay was on my visits, and the smiles meant a lot. It's been an enjoyable experience.

Tianna took care of everything I needed this week, always with a lovely smile and attitude. The rooms are good for the price, too. They don't leave you feeling like they've emptied your pockets.
