Home2 Suites by Hilton Greenville Downtown

The breakfast was plentiful and delicious, and the property was clean, comfortable, and conveniently located. We had a lovely two-night stay at Home2Suites Greenville. Scott was at the front desk when we checked in, and he was wonderfully personable, just right for the job. I hope his talent with people is appreciated.

The location was excellent, but the room cleaning needs work, especially in the bathroom. We were exhausted when we arrived in room 412 and found some unknown substance on the shower walls. I texted the front desk asking for housekeeping, but was told they’d left for the day and the room could be changed. I packed everything up, and Scott from the front desk helped move us to the third floor. That room smelled like cigarettes and dog, and the desk and counters hadn’t even been wiped. We went back to the original room. Scott said the third-floor room was from maintenance, which was okay with me as long as it wasn’t some gross bodily fluid. The next morning I requested my truck and immediately got a valet payment text. Scott said valet was charged to the room but had to be paid separately because it was a different entity. At checkout Monday, we found $72 in hotel valet charges on top of paying the valet each day. The manager on duty refunded the hotel’s valet fees and asked the company to refund part of the other payment. I even tipped them. I doubt the double charge was intentional, but it’s ridiculous. The valet supervisor is Jason, and I still haven’t heard from him, so I’ll contact my bank. The stay was decent thanks to the location and we’d stay again, but communication needs work.

We were right downtown for two nights and didn’t need to drive anywhere. The block itself was quieter, and the city was easy to explore on foot, with restaurants, fun bars, and shops nearby. Parking is valet only and paid, which made sense given the location. Requesting the car and paying a tip through a text link was easy, with Apple Pay, Google Pay, or card, and the car came quickly. The staff were welcoming, including Elana at the front desk. Our room was very clean and nicely updated, not run down at all, and we had a pretty city view, especially at sunset. Breakfast was complimentary, delicious, and offered plenty of choices. The gym was clean, well equipped, and laid out efficiently despite being small, with updated equipment, dumbbells, a cable machine and attachments, and a Peloton bike. It was a perfect stay and exceeded expectations for an affordable option. Highly recommend.

Valet parking was the only real problem. I told the valet my room number so they could charge it there, and they were already expecting me because my partner had arrived first. When I used the link to request my car before leaving, I was charged for two nights or two cars for one night, I’m still not sure which. I paid, assuming they’d failed to charge the room, but they had charged the room too. I’d requested the car at least 20 minutes before checkout and it still wasn’t ready. When we questioned the amount, we learned I shouldn’t have had to pay through the link. Haleigh, the manager, apologized and said someone would contact me first thing Monday to arrange the refund. Monday passed with no word, so I emailed. After more than two hours without a reply, my partner called and was told Haleigh was away until Thursday and we’d have to call then. She hadn’t said that, though. She’d promised it would be handled first thing the next morning. If she knew she’d be away or something came up, she should have delegated it. Don’t make me wait four more days to resolve your error.
